FRENCH INTRO 1 EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

In light of the Foreign Languages department’s “No Make-up Policy” related to course assignments (quizzes, tests, etc.), here are  4 optional Extra Credit Assignments offered throughout the semester. These Extra Credit assignments are scattered throughout the semester and should be completed when they are due. If you have any questions, please speak to your instructor.

All activities cover various modes of communication as defined by the World Readiness Standards for Learning Languages, and reinforce the New School educational approach through project-based learning and digital literacy.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY 1:  A SELF-PORTRAIT

(using Flipgrid) (oral presentational communication)

Go to FLIPGRIG:  [Instructions:  Open with Google:  it is set up to accept your Newschool email.  Then click on the green circle and start recording! (2 mns minimum)]

Create a video self-portrait:  Introduce yourself; say where you are from; describe what you like to do; introduce a good friend or a roommate; describe the activities you like to do together.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY 2:  A FRENCH SCHEDULE:

(using Padlet) (oral interpretative communication)

Go to Padlet:  [Instructions:  To do a screen recording with audio:  Click on pink button, under title, write your name and section; open schedule; choose Screen, share screen, and start recording]

Describe and compare your schedule with this French schedule:  Describe the courses this student is taking and at what times.  Is this schedule similar or different from yours? Explain. (2 mns minimum)

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY 3:  

MA VIE À LA NEWSCHOOL

(using Adobe Spark) (oral and written presentational communication)

Go to Adobe Spark:  Log in with Google; Click on “Create a project”  Choose either photo journal or slide-show and create a story about your life at the Newschool (where you live, your classes, the places where you hang out, etc.)

EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITY 4:  MA PIÈCE FAVORITE

(using Thinglink)  (written presentational communication)

Go to Thinglink:  Thinglink allows you to create a tagged image, video, 360o image or video.

What is your favorite room?  Take a picture of your favorite room, upload it on Thinglink and tag the different elements of the room with a small description (where are they from?  Why are they in this room? Which one is your favorite?)
